How many books can I borrow and for how long?

A maximum of 8 items may be borrowed by each student. Items from the main collection are loaned for 3 weeks and can be renewed at the library, by phone or online, if they are not on reserve.

As short term loans are in high demand (usually a loan period of 7 days), it is important that these are returned on time. Distance students are permitted an extra week to allow for postage time.

Users receive an email reminder three days before books are due.

How do I borrow books?

On-campus students may borrow books using the self-service checkout in the library or ask staff for assistance at the desk.

All students can reserve books online through the catalogue or send a request to the library via email. These will be posted out.  Students pay for return postage.  Library staff can scan pages from books and journals for students (within copyright regulations).

What should I do if I want to renew my loan?

Items can be renewed by logging on to your borrower’s account through the library catalogue, or contacting the library.  If the item has been requested or reserved by another user then a renewal will not be possible and the item must be returned by the original due date.

For more information students enrolled at Booth College can access the library page on Booth Online which contains instructional Powerpoints on using the library, searching for books and journal articles.

Care of library items

Borrowers are responsible for their loans and lost or damaged items requiring replacement must be paid for by the borrower.

We ask that you do not mark any of the books with highlighters, pens, pencils or fold any of the pages.

Photocopying, printing and scanning

You will need to set up a PIN to use the library photocopier/printer.  Copies and printing are charged at 10c per black and white copy.  Accounts for printing and copying costs are sent out regularly by email.

There is no charge for scanning. Library staff will scan pages from books and journals for all students but you must complete a scanning request form and indicate the chapter, page numbers or topic within that book.  Staff are bound by Australian copyright regulations when scanning the book.  Please contact the library for the scanning request form and more information.

Computers and WiFi

All computers in the library have internet access.  Some have specialist software installed, including LOGOS Bible software and Wesleyan eResources.

WiFi is available. You will be required to contact library staff for a password to access WiFi.
