William Booth who co-founded The Salvation Army with his wife said, “Faith and works should travel side by side, step answering to step, like the legs of men walking. First faith, and then works; and then faith again, and then works again--until they can scarcely distinguish which is the one and which is the other.”
Today at Booth College we harness the mission and teaching of the founder of The Salvation Army, and equip people to serve with compassion and take the message of the Gospel to the world.
Introduction to Preaching and Preaching in Context, are among the more than 70 subjects we offer to prepare people to share the good news in a way that changes the inner person to create a new nature. The preaching subjects are very practical and teaches the necessary skills to be able to prepare and present a biblically sound and relevant message for the 21st Century.
Major Deborah Robinson has been teaching Preaching for several years at Booth College. “It brings me great joy. Students arrive unsure and nervous about preaching in front of the class. At the end of the subject, come sermon presentation day they stand before their peers and deliver powerful expository sermons and I cheer with delight.”
Deborah adds, “The teaching at Booth integrates theory, practice and spiritual formation. The skills are taught through a variety of methods; the opportunity is given to put those skills into practice and along the way both, student and lecturer, are personally impacted as they unfold the Scriptures together.”
