This unit will help you to deepen your faith and understanding as you explore the biblical story in the Hebrew bible. You will be introduced to the story and will learn about the culture and society of the time, as well as exploring some important theological themes.

Students are expected to attend all virtual classroom sessions. There will also be some optional online meetings.
The first virtual class room is fixed for Monday, 26 February 11.00 am to 12.00 pm AEDT, however we will try to negotiate suitable day and time for other sessions.
We recommend that you allocate 9 hours a week for all study activities.

- Learning Activities
Students will complete workbooks which are keyed to readings and other learning materials. They will complete questions and learning activities and attend structured synchronous online engagement sessions.
*This unit is offered at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. Students may engage with people across both levels when this unit is delivered.

- Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this unit, it is expected that students will be able to:
1. Discuss the biblical narrative as literature giving attention to its historical social and cultural contexts and theological intent.
2. Identify key content and major themes that form the basis of the Hebrew bible, and how selected themes have a trajectory into the New Testament.
3. Demonstrate basic interpretive skills.
4. Apply insights from their study to Christian life and ministry within their particular context.
