GradDipArts Graduate Diploma of Arts

The Graduate Diploma of Arts is designed to enable you to expand on your undergraduate program or to change your direction to focus and pursue studies in theology for your personal and professional development.

The Graduate Diploma of Arts course is designed primarily for those who hold a tertiary qualification in a non-theological discipline, who wish to pursue a graduate qualification in theology, and who are seeking skills in theological studies to enhance their professional work. Graduates will be able to apply a body of theological knowledge in a range of contexts relating to ministry and/or further learning.

  • Entry RequirementsA three-year AQF Level 7 award in any discipline.Students with an Sydney College of Divinity Graduate Certificate in Arts may enter the program. To receive the award they are required to complete a further 36 credit points (4 units), and hand back the GradCertArts upon graduation.
  • English ProficiencyApplicants whose entry qualifications were obtained in an institution where English is not the language of instruction will normally require a minimum IELTS (or equivalent) score of 7.0 in all bands of the test.

The Graduate Diploma of Arts is an AQF Level 8 Graduate Diploma. It is 
- fully accredited through the Sydney College of Divinity (SCD) 
- qualifies for Austudy and FEE-HELP assistance
- available to overseas students
- available online 

Research Units, Research Essay and Research Project units are available each semester. Any plans to do such units must be discussed with the Academic Dean Dr Evelyn Hibbert at least two months prior to commencement.

Booth College offers a trimester system dividing the academic year into three ten-week terms. The semester dates in 2017 are
Semester 1: Week 1 starts 6 February, week 10 ends 14 April 
Semester 2: Week 1 starts 15 May, week 10 ends 28 July (mid semester one-week break starts 3 July) 
Semester 3: Week 1 starts 28 August, week 10 ends 3 November

The Salvation Army personnel may be eligible for finanacial assistance through the Course Assistance Board (CAB). Interested applicants should submit a signed CAB Form to cabcourse@aue.salvationarmy.org. All submitted CAB forms must be signed by the line manager/division to demonstrate the support of the applicant's department/corps/division.

Exit points

Students enrolled in the GradDipArts may exit with the Graduate Certificate in Arts provided they have met the requirements of the award.

 

Articulation to other Awards

Upon completion of the GradDipArts, students may choose to continue on and have the 8 subjects count towards a Master of Arts or Master of Divinity award. Students are eligible to articulate to the Master of Arts offered by the Sydney College of Divinity, on completion of which students are required to surrender their GradDipArts.
