Directors Majors Andrew and Melissa Humphreys
The Salvos Discipleship School is very close to the hearts of Andrew and Melissa, as they were both students in 1992 and 1996 respectively. What they experienced at the School laid a foundation for their ministry as Salvation Army officers and they find great fulfilment in seeing others loved, empowered and released. They are passionate about seeing the next generation fully empowered to fulfil their God given destiny. Andrew and Melissa were appointed as Directors of the Salvos Discipleship School in 2009.
Since 2013, Nathanael has been sowing into young adults lives through the Furnance program.
"My role here is first and foremost to be a mentor and guide for the students. Kind of like an official big brother! That sounds like a pretty lax job, right? Well that’s my primary focus, but that feeds into everything I do, like empowering ministry experiences, and group activities."
"The School exists 'to see sold out Jesus followers pursuing God and His calling on their lives'. I believe myself to be living that statement in all that I do; which includes being involved at Long Jetty Corps. ministering at the School and the church. I share my heart and passion to see people take the next step in their discipleship journey, with courage, boldness, and authority."
Sarah's role at the School is being a spiritual guide, mentor and leader journeying with the students as they navigate what it looks like to live as sold out disciples to Jesus Christ. She also focuses on the academic learning at the School.
"I was a student in 2013 and before the School my walk of faith was shakey at best and in no way transformational. But since completing I have had the incredible honour of being able to see students coming through who like myself have truly been transformed and ruined for the ordinary. This is a place where people come to hand the reins to God and see what He can do. It is a place where God breaks you down, breathes life and truth into you and rebuilds you with His heart and purpose. My heart for this place is that all our students would allow Him to do that, to truly see Him as the Lord of their lives and step into all He has for them."
Since 2013, Melinda has been working at the School and feels priviledged to serve the students.
Her role is ensuring the smooth functioning of the School through adminstrative and catering responsibilities. The School is s big part of her life and she loves to see the impact it has as the students grow in their faith.
